Commercial Drain Cleaning and Repair

Big Enough To Get The Job Done, Small Enough To Care

Drain Cleaning & Maintenance

Commercial and industrial drain systems vary substantially from residential ones and require different training, tools, and abilities. Pioneer Plumbing’s commercial division consists of professionals with the skills and experience necessary to provide the highest quality service, including:

  • 24 hour emergency service
  •  Industrial pump repair & installation
  •  Large and small diameter, high-pressure water-jet drain cleaning
  •  Backwater valve installation, repair, and testing
  •  Video pipeline inspection and electronic line location
  •  Storm drain cleaning and repair
  •  Scheduled maintenance programs

Due to the sheer volume of waste that goes into a commercial drainage system, regular cleaning of these drains is a necessity. Without regular clean-outs, blockages are inevitable.

We employ the latest hydro-jet drain cleaning technology, using high-pressure streams of water to clean your drains, preventing clogs or unclogging pipes and storm drains when necessary.

Think of hydro-jetting as pressure-washing for your drains, but with ultra-high pressure. We use a range of pressures, tailored to the specific type of drain pipes in use at each customer’s location.

Drain Cleaning Maintenance

As previously mentioned, the amount of waste that goes into commercial and industrial drains makes regular drain cleaning necessary in order to avoid problems. We will be happy to visit your location to assess your needs and provide you with a quotation for scheduled drain cleaning.

If your business doesn’t have a drain cleaning program in place, call us now at 604-716-4946.

Backwater Valves

A backwater valve is a one-way, waste flow control device installed below grade to protect your business from back-flows of sewage and storm water. Not having a backwater valve, or having one that isn’t operational, puts your business at risk. Commercial businesses should have a backwater valve though you may not be aware of it, and it should be properly maintained.

We install, maintain and repair all makes of backwater valves for our customers in North Vancouver.

Emergency Drain Repair

Should your business experience a drainage problem, even if it only seems limited to slow drainage, you need to have it fixed. Call us for prompt emergency service, 24 hours each day. We provide drain inspection with a camera to identify problems and will fix whatever has gone wrong before it becomes a financial disaster.

Commercial Drainage

Commercial drains often differ from domestic drains in their size and capacity, yet are not exempt from the same kinds of issues.

One of the most common commercial drainage problems is blockage. A little bit of education and preventive maintenance goes a long way to avoid the unpleasantness that blockages can cause.

Preventing Blockages

Mind what you drop down the drains or flush into the toilets. Sanitary products, baby nappies, hair, dental floss, paper and toys are some of the most common causes of blockage; besides these, grease and kitchen waste are also troublemakers. Blockages caused by kitchen waste can be treated easily enough; but as for the rest, it is best you take care.

Clearing Blockages

Since a single blockage could create multiple problems, preventive measures like regularly pouring hot water down the drain should keep drains clear of grease and fat.

Furthermore, a solution of bicarbonate of soda and vinegar usually takes care of the more stubborn build up that escapes the hot water treatment. Nevertheless, follow this with more hot water.

When you do this every three months, you won’t have to deal with as many minor drain blockage problems. It pays to bear in mind that it’s not just the inside of the drains that need attention, but you also need to ensure that the outside portion meeting the ground is clear of debris, leaves, twigs or nests.

Professional Care

Sometimes, despite all measures, you may still end up with a blockage that DIY remedies can’t treat; or you may have old and damaged drainage systems that cause steady deterioration resulting in blockages, slow draining or annoying leaks. In the case of the latter, your drains may need re-lining. This is a chemical process that hardens and restores the weak sections of the system.

When the cause of the blockage is unknown, CCTV inspections are used to ascertain it. Drain rodding and high water pressure are some of the methods used to remove debris.

Sometimes, the blockage is caused by roots and they have to be cut and removed with specialized tools. The problem with roots is often the damage is so extensive that the sections may need to be excavated and replaced. The roots of Ficus Elastica – an innocent looking, ornamental plant on NASA’s air purifying plant list – causes such damage. So, it should never be planted on the ground, no matter how far away it is from the drainage system.

Drain jetting is another way professionals remove blockages, but is often used as a preventive measure to keep the buildup of grime and grease at bay, especially from commercial kitchen drains.

Course of Action

If you have a blocked drain, first check to see who is responsible for looking after that particular section of the drain – you or the water control board (all lateral drains and public sewers are the water company’s responsibility).

However, if the area that has the blockage does not fall under the jurisdiction of the water control board, then you are responsible for it and you will want to bring in professionals who know their business.

The experts here at Pioneer Plumbing use CCTV inspections to access difficult-to-reach areas and assess the damage, and give you a detailed report of how best to deal with the problem and prevent frequent recurrence.

Our professional team are on hand to provide high power water jetting and rodding of all commercial drains, keeping your business safe from the threat of blockages and damage.
